- High price
- I am not much of a gamer
- i use a mac to podcast, blog, web design, and be a geek :)
Ask the Audience to discuss what obstacles you guys have with entry into the mac Space. Price? availability etc. What are the obstacles that you hear from people still using PC's as to why they don't switch. How do you deal with those?

CheckUp BETA
http://tinyurl.com/ysd95r
A new system checking, monitering and maintenance utility. It's a BETA and you can try if for free. A Very nice looking UI. The final version will be available on February 4, 2008. I think it may be over prced at $49 U.S. but I will use it for another month before making my final verdict.
CheckUp features powerful tools to monitor the behavior and health of Mac computers.
It's a powerful and intelligent monitoring application for any Mac with PowerPC or Intel Processors.
Route Buddy http://www.routebuddy.com/ This application is like iTunes for your GPS , it supports Garmin , TOMTOM and many others . Not cheat at $170 with Maps of North America but incredible flexible. You can also try it for free ( a full version)
- Search for addresses
- Find Points of Interest
- Create turn-by-turn Routes
- Drag and drop .GPX .LOC .CSV and .KML data
- Geocaching Support
- View and Print full screen Maps
- Import Geotagged URLs
- Add useful Metadata to your Maps
- RouteBuddy can be used as a Mapping tool with or without GPS
- Provides Mac Software support for many Garmin GPS devices, TomTom (beta) NMEA GPS Receivers (Bluetooth or USB) without the need for MS Windows or Windows emulation software
- Transfer Waypoints, Routes and Tracks to/from your device (depending on its functionality)
- Record live GPS Tracking data
- Navigate using RouteBuddy and a GPS Receive
It's rare that I see an applicaiton that is just perfect for kids . Doozla makes it easy for your child or the big child in you to get in touch with you artistic self. Using the powerful Skitch engine, you can download the trial for free and try the drawing coloring book and drawing on background features, a steal at $24.95 in my opinion.
I also hope that Skitch comes out of BETA and we see a final price on this application . It as my top application in 2007 and I'm sure their model will include local storage for your Skitch drawings and even better intergration with Flickr and other services.
Victor use of iMovie 08 for Macworld Video (if we have time content)
Things I leared about filming this time
-
If I can get an assistant
-
Be more careful about framing the shots
-
Be more careful about backgrounds
-
Get a wide angle lense if I can afford one.
----------------------
Editing with iMovie 08
-
I continue to use iMovie 08 for the Macworld Video
-
Brining in video a snap
-
iMovie 08 despite of all the "it sucks " comment it does not. I consider myself a very typical iMovie 08 user and it's been easy as pie
-
Used Color correction
-
Use of croping to better frame video
-
Used Audio leveling, fades and ducking
-
Use of still pictures of LOGO for intro and outro
-
Use of short Music sweeps for impact
-
Use of Export to Quicktime in order to make the videos ready for distribution
FORMAT
H.264 Decoder, 960 x 540, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 44.100 kHz
Frame rate: 29.97
Data rate : 2189.73 kbits/s this is where you save size. When I published the first one (Ken Ray) I was using the full 11Megabits and the file size was huge, my friend Paul Figgiani helped me by suggesting I change the data rate to something between 1500 and 200 kbits. This made a huge differene on file size (reduced it) without compromising the quality.
